How to Read a Spanish 21 Strategy Chart

The strategy charts used on the HitOrSplit Spanish 21 trainer can be interpreted with the key below. Each basic strategy play is represented by 1 to 3 characters. If applicable, the character farthest to the right takes precedence.

First Character
  • H - Hit
  • S - Stand
  • P - Split
  • L - Concede (Surrender) if already doubled, if not - Surrender, if Surrender not possible - Hit
  • D - Double, otherwise Hit
  • C - Concede (Surrender) if already doubled, otherwise Hit
  • E - Redouble, otherwise Hit

Second Character
  • 3 - Hit if 3 or more cards
  • 4 - Hit if 4 or more cards
  • 5 - Hit if 5 or more cards
  • 6 - Hit if 6 or more cards

Third Character
  • # - Hit if 6-7-8 possible
  • $ - Hit if suited 6-7-8 or 7-7-7 possible
  • % - Hit if spaded 6-7-8 possible

Examples:
Example 1:"S 4 #" means "Stand, except if you (a) have 4 or more cards or (b) have a chance to get 6-7-8 - in which case Hit"
Example 2: "D 3" means "Double, except if you have 3 or more cards - in which case Hit"
